What Is STEP?

STEP (Standard for the Exchange of Product model data, ISO 10303) is a vendor-neutral 3D CAD format carried in .step and .stp files. It stores solids, surfaces, and full assembly structure as a boundary representation (BREP) — the exact mathematical geometry of every face and edge. Because it is an open ISO standard, STEP is the common exchange format between SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, Fusion 360, NX, and almost every other mechanical CAD package. What Is HPGL?
