Designers and web publishers convert ODP presentation slides to PNG to extract individual slides as lossless raster images for web pages, documentation, and design tools that accept PNG but not ODP.
ODP (OpenDocument Presentation) is the OASIS-standard presentation format for LibreOffice Impress. It stores slides, speaker notes, embedded images, and styling in a ZIP-based XML structure. ODP is the open-source counterpart to PPTX. While ODP is supported by several applications, it requires an office suite to render — it cannot be embedded as a web image or shared in image-only contexts.
PNG (Portable Network Graphics) is an open-standard lossless raster format with full alpha channel transparency. It is the preferred format for web graphics, screenshots, and any image where sharp edges and exact colors are required. PNG files are larger than JPEG but do not suffer quality loss on repeated saves. Every browser, design tool, and image editor supports PNG natively.
