What Is VMSG?

VMSG, also written vMessage or .vmg, is a plain-text message format standardized by the IrMC specification in 1999 for exchanging SMS and MMS between phones and computers. Its layout mirrors a vCard: a BEGIN:VMSG block wraps a VCARD section with the contact and phone number and a VBODY section with the message itself.
