How do I convert PDF to EPS online?

What is the difference between PDF and EPS?

Why do print workflows still require EPS files?

Legacy RIP (Raster Image Processor) systems at printing companies, service bureaus, and trade shops often pre-date PDF support. Their workflows were built around EPS placement in QuarkXPress or early InDesign. Substrate-specific printers (textile, large-format, engraving) may also require EPS for cutting paths. Additionally, embroidery software (Wilcom, PE-Design, Hatch) traditionally uses EPS as the preferred vector import format.

Does converting PDF to EPS preserve vector content?

For PDFs that contain true vector objects (shapes, text, curves drawn in Illustrator or InDesign), the EPS output is also vector — scalable and editable in Illustrator or CorelDRAW. For PDFs that are rasterized (scanned documents, photos), the EPS contains a high-resolution embedded bitmap, which is not truly scalable.

Can I edit the resulting EPS file in Adobe Illustrator?

Yes. Adobe Illustrator can open EPS files and edit their contents. If the source PDF contained editable vector objects (not rasterized), you can modify paths, colors, and text after opening in Illustrator. Note that some complex PDF features (transparency, gradients, clipping paths) may be flattened during the conversion.

What is the maximum file size for PDF to EPS conversion?
