SVG File

File extension .SVG, .SVGZ
CategoryImage File
DescriptionSVG is a vector type of graphics, such files provide excellent data compression within the small file size. It provides scaling up to any size without loss in quality, supports various filters and interactivity. This format is aimed at storing either vector or vector/raster graphic data in XML code, supporting animated graphics. SVG files are actually text image description that can be edited and read in text editors. They are less in size than JPEG or GIF copies of the same quality.

JPG File

File extension .JPG, .JPEG, .JPE, .JFIF, .JFI
CategoryImage File
DescriptionJPG is the file format for images made by digital cameras and spread throughout the world wide web. Saving in JPG format an image loses its quality, because of the size compression. But at the end you have a much smaller file easy to archive, send, and publish in the web. These are the cases when an image's size matters more than image's quality. Nonetheless, by using professional software you can select the compression degree and so affect the image's quality.

Convert SVG to JPG — Frequently Asked Questions ▼

Yes, if the output resolution is high enough. SVG is vector-based and renders crisply at any size. The JPG output quality depends on the pixel dimensions used during rasterization. The online converter renders at a standard screen resolution. For large-format print requiring 300 DPI at a specific physical size, use Total Image Converter on the desktop with custom DPI settings.
Yes, SVG supports transparency. JPG does not. Transparent areas in the SVG will be filled with a solid background color — typically white — in the JPG output. If you need to preserve transparency, convert to PNG instead of JPG.
If the text in the SVG is rendered using system-standard fonts or has been converted to paths (outlines), it will render correctly. If the SVG references an external or custom web font that is not available on the server, the text may fall back to a default font. Converting text to paths in your vector editor before exporting the SVG eliminates this risk.
JavaScript and CSS animations are rendered in their initial state. The converter outputs a static snapshot of the SVG as it appears before any animations run. Dynamic SVG effects are not captured.
The converter renders the SVG at a standard screen resolution. SVGs have no inherent pixel dimensions — they scale to any size. If you need a higher resolution JPG (for print or large displays), use Total Image Converter on the desktop, which lets you specify exact output dimensions in pixels or DPI.
SVG files are typically very small (a few KB to a few MB), so the 50 MB online limit is rarely an issue. For batch conversion of large SVG asset libraries, use Total Image Converter on the desktop.
Total Image Converter processes folders of SVG files in one command: TotalImageConverter.exe C:\svg_assets C:\jpg_output /ConvertTo jpg /ProcessRecursively. It supports custom output size, DPI, and JPG quality settings. Available at coolutils.com/TotalImageConverter with a 30-day free trial.

Convert SVG to JPG Online

Web developers and designers convert SVG to JPG when they need a rasterized image that is compatible with apps, platforms, and workflows that don't support scalable vector graphics.

What Is SVG?

SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) is an XML-based format that describes graphics as mathematical shapes — paths, circles, polygons, and text — rather than pixels. SVG scales to any size without quality loss, making it ideal for logos and icons. However, many applications cannot open or process SVG: Photoshop requires plugins, Word embeds it poorly, email clients strip it, and most print services reject it in favor of rasterized formats.

What Is JPG?

JPG is a raster format that stores images as a fixed grid of pixels. While it cannot scale infinitely like SVG, it is universally supported by every application, platform, and device. JPG uses lossy compression that is well-suited for photos and complex graphics. For vector graphics converted to JPG, the result is a crisp image at the output resolution with excellent compatibility.
