Does converting DOC to PDF change the formatting?

For most documents, the formatting is preserved: fonts, tables, images, headers, and footers all carry over. Exceptions occur when the source file uses non-embedded custom fonts — in that case, Word substitutes a fallback font, and that substitution is what gets converted. Embed fonts in Word before converting (File > Options > Save > Embed fonts) to avoid this.

Can I convert a DOCX file with this tool, or only DOC?

Both formats are accepted. The converter handles Word 97-2003 binary .doc files and modern Office Open XML .docx files equally. Just upload whichever you have.

Will tracked changes and comments appear in the PDF?

Yes — by default they render as markup in the PDF. If you want a clean final version, accept all tracked changes (Review > Accept > Accept All Changes) and delete comments before uploading.

Is there a file size limit?

The online converter accepts files up to 50 MB. If your document is larger — typically because it contains many high-resolution embedded images — compress the images in Word first (Picture Format > Compress Pictures) or use the desktop Total Doc Converter, which has no size limit.

Are my documents kept private?

Can I convert a password-protected DOC file?
